Elders & Persons with Disabilities (E&D) Transportation Program
The E&D Transportation Program supports community members through affordable transportation to medical appointments, local adult day centers, senior meal sites, and to access fresh food at the grocery store. The E&D Transportation Program is specifically designed to serve older adults and persons with disabilities. In our region this service is provided by Rural Community Transportation (RCT). NVDA facilitates the E&D Committee jointly with Lamoille County Planning Commission and our area encompases all of Caledonia, Essex, Orleans, and Lamoille Counties. The providers use a combination of buses, lift-equipped vans, sedans and taxis, along with volunteer drivers who use personal vehicles to give rides to community members.
The E&D Transportation Committee typically meets quarterly (March, June, September & December). Due to COVID-19, the Committee currently meets remotely over Zoom. Call-in information and links are available in each meeting agenda.
For more information on the E&D Program and Committee, please contact Doug Morton of Northeastern Vermont Development Association by email, dmorton@nvda.net or Rob Moore of Lamoille County Planning Commission by email Rob@lcpcvt.org.
